Joana Alves
This final project of the first year of the master's program was a self-guided editorial book design, where the theme chosen was the history of the ring — an object with timeless presence and symbolism. The book explored the ring's evolution and its connection to the human hand, showcasing its cultural and personal significance. Divided into two sections, the first part focuses on the history of the ring, while the second serves as an illustrated dictionary of different types of rings. The relationship with the hand was emphasized throughout, highlighting the intimate connection between the two. The design was kept minimalist and contemporary, aiming for a timeless look, much like the ring itself. With clean typography, white space, and subtle graphics, the book sought to focus on the content, allowing the simplicity of the ring to speak for itself.
